I’ve always been fascinated by the way nature can be both breathtakingly beautiful and completely unforgiving. A praying mantis is one of those creatures that embodies both at once. Its delicate form and almost alien elegance make it mesmerizing to watch, but beneath that beauty is an incredibly efficient predator.

The environment is built through layers of warm pinks and soft organic shapes that hint at dense vegetation without ever becoming literal.

I wasn’t interested in portraying the scene as something violent, but as a reminder of the quiet balance that exists in the natural world. Predation is just as essential as pollination, and moments like this are happening all around us every day, usually without us ever noticing. I wanted to celebrate that complexity—to paint a creature that is equal parts graceful, strange, and endlessly captivating.
